The school was established in the year 1954, beginning its journey with the Nursery Section, which is presently known as Balvatika. Since its inception, the institution has travelled a long and glorious path, earning recognition for its consistent achievements in academics, co-curricular activities, and the overall development of students.

At present, Shishu Bihar HS School provides education from Balvatika to Class XII, catering to students at all stages of school education. The institution comprises Balvatika, Primary, Upper Primary, Secondary, and Senior Secondary levels, ensuring a continuous and comprehensive educational journey for its learners.

The school presently has a student strength of 2223 students and a dedicated teaching faculty of 79 teachers, comprising:

For many years, Shishu Bihar HS School was affiliated with the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE). In the year 2020, the institution made a significant transition and switched over to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

This transition marked a new chapter in the educational journey of the institution, enabling the school to adopt the national curriculum framework and provide students with broader opportunities for academic growth and competitive preparedness.
